American SpeedFest - Sunday 7th June
Haynes Ford attended American SpeedFest on Sunday 7th June at Brands Hatch. SpeedFest has quickly established itself as a popular day out for all the family and exciting new additions to the event ensured that it was bigger and better than ever in 2015. American SpeedFest brings to Britain authentic US-style stock car racing with the only NASCAR race series sanctioned outside North America, the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, plus the thunderous American classic muscle cars of Bernie's V8s.
There's also displays of more than 1,000 American cars, bikes and trucks, including famous Hollywood movie cars; monster truck shows and passenger rides; stunt shows on the ground and in the air; live music, with bands and tribute acts; food themed to delight with Tastes from the States; and a children's Playzone featuring bouncy castles, face-painting and entertainters.
Haynes Ford took their newly restored 1965 Classic Mustang to the event, along with a Fiesta ST and some merchandise relating to Performance vehicles. A small team of staff manned the event trailer and mingled with passing visitors. There was a lot of interest in the restoration and every opportunity was shared to advertise the Mustang Revealed event which would be held at the dealership the following weekend. A lot of requests to see a UK Mustang were noted - with promises made that Haynes Ford would be at the same event in 2016 with a UK RHD Mustang.
Mustang Revealed - Sunday 14th June
Kent's First Reveal of the New, 2015, European Specification Ford Mustang took place at Haynes Ford in Maidstone. Powerful and dynamic with an unmistakeable presence, the new Ford Mustang is performance refinement personified. Iconic in America, on Sunday 14th June we showed Kent what we can expect when the Mustang comes to Europe and the UK for the very first time. Residents of Maidstone may have heard the throaty roar of some of America's most iconic Ford Mustangs descending on the town.
To celebrate the launch of the all new right-hand drive Ford Mustang, Haynes were one of the very few Ford Main Dealers allowed to display one for a weekend ahead of its official UK dealer release. To mark the occasion, Haynes Ford held a special Mustang Celebration Weekend Event and Open House for customers. As the finale to the weekend, the company invited the Kent branch of the Mustang Owners Club GB to display its many Mustangs outside the Haynes Ford showroom and on its forecourts. It also invited owners of Ford's other most notable UK vehicles of the Mustang era to attend.
The Pony Car, as the Mustang became known, was launched in 1964 in the US and became an instant hit featuring in many celebrated movies including the famous 1968 movie, Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen. On display at Haynes were many fine examples of the Mustang ranging from 1965 to the present day, including the all new European Specification one to be launched later in the year.
A total of over 30 Mustangs were on display at Haynes and highlights included 3 performance Shelby GT 500s, a Mustang Pace Car and Boss 302 and a 1965 Fastback. The company also had on display its own 1965 red Mustang coupe that it had recently restored at its Ford bodyshop at Parkwood.
Commenting on the event, Richard Collision, Operations Director of Haynes Ford, said: "The Mustang is such an iconic vehicle and we were very lucky that Ford Motor Company let us have, for a special weekend, a version of the all new one that will be on the road later this year. The Mustang Owners Club GB did a fantastic job in supporting the event and we attracted hundreds of visitors who were all keen to see the famous Mustang throughout the many stages of its production life."
